Palm Beach Garden Library celebrates World Wetlands Day with Riverbend Park

World Wetlands Day is a day to show appreciation to the animals that live in the wetlands and highlight the importance of the wetlands to the ecosystem. Palm Beach Garden Library is collaborating with Riverbend Park to engage the public with a meet and greet to four animals that reside there, including a snake and an alligator. While also showcasing the importance of the wetlands themselves.

They act as a natural filtration system.
Some wetlands contain the most biologically diverse ecosystems on the planet.
There are actually five types of wetlands: marine wetlands, estuarine wetlands, riverine wetlands, lacustrine wetlands, and palustrine wetlands.
Wetlands can store flood water
The “Pantanal” is the largest tropical wetland in the world
RIverbend Park holds historical knowledge along with chances to walk, bicycle, canoe and much more. There are nearly 10 miles of hiking/biking trails, 7 miles of equestrian trails and 5 miles of canoeing/kayaking trails allowing for hours of enjoyment.
