For those interested in signing up for Intro to Archery, here are some safety tips to consider when going to this event:

  • Only point the bow and arrow in a safe direction.

  • Be sure of your target and what is in front of it, immediately behind it, and beyond it.

  • Only shoot when you have a safe range or shooting area, and a safe backstop or background.

  • Do not shoot an arrow straight up in the air.

  • Wear an armguard and finger protection while shooting bows and arrows.

  • Handle arrows carefully.

  • Immediately repair defects in equipment.

  • Store arrows in quivers and accessories in a sturdy box or padded bag.

  • Keep your emotions under control, and think about safety first.

The Daggerwing Nature Center was established in the late 1980s and was named after the native daggerwing butterfly. The nature center is within the Burt Aaronson South County Regional Park, which spans over 800 acres in Boca Raton and includes a wide range of habitats, such as wetlands, pine flatwoods and cypress swamps.

The Daggerwing Nature Center is home to a butterfly sanctuary, elevated boardwalks and hiking trails for safe viewing of birds, reptiles and mammals in their natural habitats.
