Morikami Museum will be hosting its Orchid Weekend on Feb. 1st and 2nd. Meet a curated selection of orchid vendors, suppliers, and artisan plant enthusiasts who will be on hand all weekend to share their expertise and offer unique plants, supplies, and Japanese artisans.


What: Orchid Weekend 

When: Saturday, February 1st and Sunday, February 2nd

Where: Morikami Garden at Morikami Museum

Cost: Free with paid admission into the museum


Orchids are a diverse and widespread group of flowering plants with blooms that are often colorful and fragrant. Here are some fun facts about the plants that you’ll be seeing in the garden:


  • They are the second largest flowering plant family

  • They grow on every continent except Antarctica

  • Orchids have the smallest seeds of any plant

  • Orchid flowers are upside down

  • Vanilla is made from the seedpods of the vanilla orchid


Morikami’s Special Programs offers educational and cultural programming related to their current exhibits and the way of Japanese culture, by the way of films, lectures, concerts and interesting events.
