Sometimes people can get caught up with the flashiest of animals and their problems, but what about those animals that are often overlooked and are more at risk because of this failure to notice their needs . Riverbend Park noticed this trend and devised a day to talk about these creatures with their segment called, “South Florida Animals: Overlooked.”

This segment will highlight these misunderstood animals, offering a unique opportunity to learn about and interact with them firsthand.

What: South Florida Animals: Overlooked

When: Saturday, February 8th

Time: 9:30 a.m. - 11 a.m.

Where: Riverbend Park

Address: 9060 W Indiantown Rd, Jupiter, FL 33478

Cost: $5

Overlooked creatures can become endangered because of the lack of response and initiative in protecting them or the habitat. Creatures in Florida that are endangered as of 2022 in South Florida are the Schaus Swallowtail Butterfly, Key Deer, Lower Keys Marsh Rabbit, Key Largo Cotton Mouse, Key Largo Woodrat, Sea Turtles and American Alligator.

Riverbend Park is a scenic natural area offering activities such as hiking, horseback riding, kayaking, canoeing and picnicking. The park’s trails wind through wetlands and forests and along the Loxahatchee River and provide glimpses of birds, turtles, alligators and other wildlife.
