Valentines is still in the air and Okeeheelee Park is sharing its Valentine with the deer in its Nature Center. The center will be hosting a “Deer-ly Loved Hearts & Crafts” event where the public will be able to make Valentine arts and crafts. Also, attendees will have the chance to meet and greet the deer from the park.
What: Deer-ly Loved Hearts & Craft
When: Saturday, February 15th
Time: 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Where: Okeeheelee Nature Center at Okeeheelee Park
Address: 7715 Forest Hill Blvd, West Palm Beach, FL 33413
Cost: $5 (pre-registration required)
The deer that will be present during the presentation will be white-tailed deer. These types of deer are grayish in the winter and tannish to reddish brown in the summer. They have a large tail that is white underneath and when threatened the deer raise their tail like a bright white flag.
Okeeheelee Nature Center’s exhibits focus on three Palm Beach County ecosystems: freshwater, coastal and upland pine flatwoods. It offers winding trails, ponds and a dog park. Nonmotorized boats are welcome. Paddlers have access to some of the more remote areas. The park also has a BMX track and areas for horse riding. Bicycles and boats can be rented.
