Take a shot at archery with certified instructors at Riverbend Park

An arrow of opportunity has struck Riverbend Park. USA Archery will be hosting an instructional course at Riverbend with a chance for participants to learn all things archery, from handling the bow to releasing an arrow. 


What: Archery 101

When: Saturday, February 15th

Time: 9:30 a.m. - 11 a.m.

Where: RIverbend Park

Age: 8+

Cost: $10


For those interested in signing up for Archery 101, here are some safety tips to consider when going to this event:


  • Only point the bow and arrow in a safe direction.

  • Be sure of your target and what is in front of it, immediately behind it, and beyond it.

  • Only shoot when you have a safe range or shooting area, and a safe backstop or background.

  • Do not shoot an arrow straight up in the air.

  • Wear an armguard and finger protection while shooting bows and arrows.

  • Handle arrows carefully. 

  • Immediately repair defects in equipment.

  • Store arrows in quivers and accessories in a sturdy box or padded bag.

  • Keep your emotions under control, and think about safety first.


RIverbend Park holds historical knowledge along with chances to walk, bicycle, canoe and much more. There are nearly 10 miles of hiking/biking trails, 7 miles of equestrian trails and 5 miles of canoeing/kayaking trails allowing for hours of enjoyment. 


Riverbend Park’s educational programs cover the local environment and history, and visitors can explore Seminole War battlefields.
