Wetlands are areas where water covers the soil, or is present either at or near the surface of the soil all year or for varying periods of time during the year, including during the growing season. In Florida, the wetlands help stabilize the coastal area such as the First Coast, Space Coast, Treasure Coast, Gold Coast and more.

Okeeheelee Nature Center’s exhibits focus on three Palm Beach County ecosystems: freshwater, coastal and upland pine flatwoods. It offers winding trails, ponds and a dog park. Non-motorized boats are welcome. Paddlers have access to some of the more remote areas. The park also has a BMX track and areas for horse riding. Bicycles and boats can be rented.
